Initially an illustrator working in several different fields, Claire turned to fine art fifteen years ago. Since then, her paintings have found clients worldwide and she is the current Artist in Residence at Broadway Arts Festival.   I had always wanted to express myself more through my work and in 2010 I waved goodbye to corporate clients and began painting the British countryside, coast and urban environments that I love. Living in the centre of England in Stratford-upon-Avon is a bonus as it allows for a lot of exploring, but sometimes a simple bunch of flowers from my garden provides me with the perfect subject matter.   I enjoy experimenting with texture and mixed media, though I mostly use acrylic paint as I love its versatility and depth of colour.   Represented by: British Contemporary. Art Montpellier Gallery, Stratford-upon-Avon The Harbour Gallery, Portscatho Padstow Gallery, Padstow Tamarisk Gallery, Scilly Isles

My work is a reflection of nature’s raw beauty, infused with vibrant colours of the sea and the ever changing movement of the world around me. I am self-taught, painting instinctively. I create pieces of work capturing my mood and emotion rather than structural technique, personalising each one. No two paintings are the same, each one a unique piece. I don’t always work things out before I start, and if I do, it can change as I go along. Maybe I start with colour, but that can also change. Nothing leaves my studio until I am satisfied, I put a lot of time and energy into making sure the work is unencumbered, with complicated narrative.

I am a British artist exploring the boundary between drawing and painting, using ink and wash on unbleached British paper. My practice focuses on structure, landscape, and atmosphere, often developed en plein air. I use a repertoire of mark-making. and love working in places of historical or ,geographical uniqueness. I value craftsmanship and originality, aiming for works that balance precision with expressive immediacy. I am currently expanding my practice through portraiture, and opening new ways for audiences to engage with my work.
